From Gothenburg’s industrial heritage to Stockholm’s historic streets, Film8 produced ”2026 ZEEKR On The Road” experience as a multi-city Swedish road trip combining automotive storytelling, Nordic design, nature, culture and everyday life.

Production period: August 11–17, 2026
Production: Film8
Producer: Shawn Ho @ Film8

Retouching: Lily
Deliverables: 3 Vlogs, 1 Recap Film, Dozens of Automotive Stills

A Swedish Road Trip Built Around Design

For the campaign, Film8 was brought on board to handle production for a journey through Sweden.

The itinerary connected several different sides of Sweden: the industrial and design identity of Gothenburg, the quieter landscapes and roads of central Sweden, and the cultural and architectural character of Stockholm.

The journey began in Gothenburg on Sweden’s west coast before moving through Jönköping, Linköping and Norrköping, eventually arriving in Stockholm.

The campaign concept itself reflected this progression: from Nordic industry and automotive heritage, to nature and open roads, and finally to Swedish culture and urban life.

For Film8, that meant the production had to work on several levels simultaneously — automotive photography, travel storytelling, location production, lifestyle content and documentary-style observation. And all of these elements needed to feel like one coherent journey.

Gothenburg was an especially important starting point for the project.

The opening concept positioned the city as a meeting point of ports, industry, design and automotive history — a natural environment for introducing ZEEKR's design philosophy.

The production therefore needed to establish the relationship between the vehicle and its surroundings rather than treating the car as an isolated studio subject.

After Gothenburg, the itinerary moved inland and across central Sweden, with Jönköping, Linköping and Norrköping forming part of the route. This was a journey through roads, lakes and forests — a slower, more relaxed Nordic rhythm where nature, history and traces of industry coexist. For production, this kind of itinerary creates a particular challenge. Unlike a controlled commercial shoot, a road-trip production has to work with constantly changing conditions. And the production team has to keep the creative objective intact while adapting to all of them. This is where experienced production planning becomes particularly valuable.

What Does an Automotive Producer Actually Do?

Behind a multi-city automotive road trip like this, however, the producer has to coordinate a long list of moving parts. For Shawn Ho, who led production for Film8, the role involved bringing together the creative concept and the practical realities of shooting across Sweden.

This includes understanding location (identifying environments that work both narratively and visually, from modern industrial architecture to waterfronts, historic city centres and natural landscapes), timing (planning around travel schedules while also taking advantage of the best available natural light), weather (outdoor automotive production is particularly dependent on weather. Cloud cover, sunlight, reflections and road conditions can dramatically change the appearance of a vehicle), vehicle presentation (automotive photography requires careful attention to vehicle positioning, reflections, background relationships and camera angles), story continuity (with multiple cities and multiple deliverables, individual shots still need to contribute to one larger narrative), cross-format content (the same journey had to generate different types of content — from short-form vlog storytelling to a recap piece and high-end still photography). That is what makes the producer's role so important.

The audience sees a seamless road trip. The production team sees dozens of decisions that have to happen correctly for that seamlessness to exist.

The composition also makes use of Stockholm's architecture rather than simply placing the vehicle in front of a recognizable landmark. The historic buildings, cobblestones, water and warm evening light become part of the frame. Photographed by Wang Xiaoyu.

A Road Trip That Feels Like Sweden

The campaign does not try to make Sweden disappear behind the product. It does the opposite. Sweden becomes part of the ZEEKR story. Gothenburg introduces industry and design. The journey through central Sweden brings in roads, lakes, forests and a slower Nordic rhythm. Stockholm introduces architecture, history and culture. And throughout the journey, the ZEEKR vehicles act as the visual connection between these different environments.

That required a production team capable of understanding not just how to make content, but how to make a destination, a vehicle and a brand story work together.

For Film8, the project is another example of what strong production can achieve: taking a creative idea, navigating real-world locations, weather, travel and timing, and turning all those moving parts into content that feels natural, cinematic and intentional.
